Rumal Khan for Portsmouth North

About Rumal Khan

My name is Rumal Khan and I am standing as Labour Party candidate in Portsmouth North for the 2017 General Election.

I live and work in Portsmouth and I am standing because I want to tackle problems and issues on behalf of Portsmouth people.

Since the Conservatives have been in power, the national debt has increased, class sizes have increased, poverty has risen and the National Health Service has been allowed to fall into disarray.

As a small businessman, I also feel that small businesses have been badly let down by this Conservative government, leading to the closure of many and the tearing apart of our high streets and communities.

I am standing because I want to tackle these problems. Labour will invest in our public services and help our small businesses. We will help reduce poverty, tackle anti-social behaviour, increase the minimum wage and put an end to unfair zero-hours contracts.

I have worked as a business adviser for 4 years for the Enterprise Agency. I had a local catering business in Cosham during the 1990s. I speak four different languages and have worked as a Community Development Worker for the Portsmouth Council Community Services. I have worked hard to give employment training advice to unemployed people who came from the local job centre.

With this experience and my commitment to Portsmouth people, I feel very able to stand as your candidate for Labour, and will be honoured if you vote for me on June 8th.
